Vendors Beware! It’s Not What You Say, It’s How You Say It.

A study from Iowa State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering suggests that the format and organization of a proposal can significantly affect a vendor’s chance of winning a contract. And we thought those university professors didn’t know much about the real world!

GMS Accounting and Financial Management System

The GMS Accounting and Financial Management/Reporting System integrates all accounting activity into an entity-wide system. The GMS Accounting system is not sold as separate modules, but rather as a package containing all the necessary functions to run your not-for-profit on a daily basis. Our underlying system design is entity-wide, providing you an integrated accounting system that performs all accounting activities. Systems are available in a 1–2 user version, a 3–4 user version, and a 5-or-more user version, either in Access or SQL Server applications. GMS has add-on software that can be purchased in addition to the basic package, including accounts receivable (AR), purchase orders (POs), direct deposit, fixed assets, and report writer. GMS also has a myriad of additional supplements to enhance your reporting features and that fit specific applications within your agency. GMS is designed to handle activity accounting. It is not a fund accounting system, but a grant and contract accounting system created and written specifically to account for grants, contracts, and activities. Key features include compliance with Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) 116 and 117 (requirements that all not-for-profit organizations follow); accounting, reporting, and budget monitoring for multiple grants and contracts, even if they have differing funding periods; multiple ways to handle important cost allocation issues for common costs, general and administrative costs, indirect costs, fringe benefits, leave costs, and various specialized cost pools; and a variety of ways to comply with all major Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circulars. Our clients are exclusively not-for-profit and public organizations. They range in size from two to more than 1,000 employees.

TrueComp

TrueComp addresses the challenges faced by compensation administrators, including retroactive changes to compensation plans, territory assignments or organizational reporting structures (even affecting closed periods); modeling and forecasting future compensation expenses; quota management for the entire organization; and researching and resolving disputed sales credit situations. The solution also accommodates customized territory definitions, non-standard management roll-ups, and multiple business units on different reporting calendars. TrueComp helps create business rules for crediting transactions to sales or channel representatives, and calculating payments. Results can be audited and adjusted, and payments are posted to the accounts payable (AP) system. TrueComp Manager incorporates rule-editing assistance and online "legal moves" to remove the need for complex code-writing or in-depth technical knowledge. Modeling capabilities allow TrueComp users to project the impact of new compensation rules by providing side-by-side scenario comparisons. Finally, new quota distribution features allow compensation administrators to manage quotas across the entire sales organization.

What Makes a Good White Paper Good… (Part 4)

Here's the final point in a series of four aimed at identifying a "good" IT white paper (and providing helpful hints, should you need to write one). The previous points addressed the importance of the white paper's introduction, of writing to a specific audience, and of proposing a viable solution. The final point, appropriately enough, considers key features of an effective conclusion. 4. All

It should be “ practical and memorable ,” according to both Michael Stelzner and Ed Gandia, a technology copywriter. 4 Essential Components for Successful Sales

Most companies are aware that the buying processes of the world and its buyers are changing, but many have yet to recognize the need to make changes within their own sales force. Often sales professionals don’t have the proper skills or tools needed to be successful. For many sales professionals proposal writing is a time-consuming, cut-and-paste task that often produces a document disconnected from the sales process. A low Proposal Close Ratio actually might more closely reflect a sales professional's writing skills or poor use of a word processing system rather than his selling ability.
